As of 2010 the Keansburg Police Department headed by Chief of Police James K. Pigott, consisted of 39 full-time law enforcement employees, 33 of which are police officers. The Police Department is located at 179 Carr Avenue Keansburg, New Jersey 07734. That same year, The New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Unit reported 343 main crimes.. The findings showed that there were 10 robberies, 32 assaults, 62 burglaries, 71 cases of domestic violence, 32 prejudice crimes, and 39 incidents of police force. There were not any homocides or rapes reported.
The Keansburg Municipal Court is located at 29 Church St. Keansburg, New Jersey 07734. The Honorable Judge Michael Pugliese holds court sessions every second and fourth Tuesday each month at 12:30 pm and every Thursday at 8:30 in the morning. There is also a second afternoon session on the first Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. Sharon Moore is the Court Administrator. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Keansburg New Jersey
Keansburg is a borough located along the shore in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Formed in 1917 from sections of Middletown Township and Raritan Township. As of 2010 the borough is reported to have a high population of just over 10,000 all within an approximate 17 square mile area. Of the 10,000 inhabitants there were 2,563 families and 4,269 homes.
At one time in the 1950’s Keansburg was a very popular beachside area that many out-of-towners would visit in the summer months. In early 1960 Hurricane Donna had destroyed much of the waterfront community and took some time to rebuild. The Keansburg Amusement Park became a popular draw for visitors and residents over the years. In 1995 upgrades were made to refurbish and freshen up the boardwalk scene. A waterpark was added at the the end of the boardwalk called Runaway Rapids and was admired by all kids and their families also.
Keansburg’s public library, located on the waterfront was established in 2004. The community fought hard to have a library in their borough with all the necessary resources.
There are four public schools in the Keansburh School District. The Port Monmouth Road Intermediate School is for kids in pre-kindergarten through second grades. The Joseph C. Caruso Intermediate School is for students in third and fourth grades. The Joseph R. Bolger Middle School is for students in grades fifth through eighth. High school age residetns attend the Keansburg High School fro grades nine through twelve. While there are no colleges or universities located within the borough of Keansburg, there are many options closeby. Monmouth University being the cloespt college in nearby Long Branch.
Findings show according to the 2010 educational data reports, that 22 percent of Keansburg residents age 25 and older did not graduate or complete high school. About 25 percent had taken some college or received an associate’s degree. Approximately 8 percent received a bachelor’s degree, and about 4 percent went on to receive a graduate degree.
